The MDS-5 is a high-energy degausser designed to erase all formats of
cassettes and tapes reels up to 16 inches in diameter, audio, video,
computer and digital media up to 2400 oersteds, including hard drives. With
the option to choose between two degaussing field strenghts, the MDS-5 is
like having two degaussers in one. The first one being a continuous duty
degausser for erasing formats such as VHS, diskettes and audiocassettes. The
second being an intermittent duty degausser with a stronger degaussing field
designed to erase high coercivity media such as Beta SP, Super DLT, DLT,
D2-D9, M-II, 3480’s, hard drives and all Digital Video tape formats. Erases
reels up to 2” in width and 18” in diameter.
