The HD-1 Professional Degausser is specifically designed to erase higher-coercivity media, such as hard drives (up to 160GB) and DLT’s. Additionally, the HD-1 effectively erases all metal particle formats such as Beta SP, Beta SX, Digital BetaCam, D1-D5, 3490 data cartridges and more.
For long-lasting performance, the degaussing coils are vacuum dipped and baked. The vacuum process draws the air out of the coil allowing the potting compound to coat each winding of the coil. The coil is then baked "rock hard" to eliminate the vibrations that could eventually lead to shorts in the windings of the coil. In addition, two thermal detection units have been wound into each coil to ensure that the operating temperature is safely maintained. When in operation, the coils are cooled by a fan that is automatically turned on and off by the signals being sent from the thermal detection units.
Please note: Hard drives are NOT reusable once degaussed.

ATTENTION WHEN DEGAUSSING:
Please note the following suggestions when using
a Degausser:
Watches:
Remove your wristwatch when using the Degausser.
Direct exposure to the magnetic field may damage some watches.
Magnetic
Strip Cards:
Do not place your wallet or purse containing
credit or phone cards directly on or above the conveyor belt. Magnetic
strip cards are very easy to erase. However, having a wallet in
your back pants pocket while using the Degausser will not erase
the cards.
Tape storage:
Store videotapes you do not intend to
erase approximately four feet from the Degausser. This will eliminate
the opportunity for the operator to accidentally run “good” tapes
through the Degausser.
Placement
of Tapes:
When erasing tapes, place them on the left edge
of the belt (as you face the machine). In order they may travel
the full length of the conveyor belt for quality erasure.
Pacemakers:
Do not operate the Degausser if you have a pacemaker.
